This two-channel piece features the simultaneous degradation of the same clip across two different channels. The video clip in the respective channels are being encoded in two different encoding languages. Every 6 seconds, the footage is further compressed at a rate 0.2MBs per second of render depth, meaning that by the end of the video, the footage is compressed to its absolute bare architecture within that encoding language. This, then, reveals the fundamental makeup behind the way that the rendering machine interprets footage based on encoding language and process. What occurs is the slow metamorphosis between documentary video footage and video abstraction, creating an avant-garde 2-dimensional sculpture of the architecture of the video itself. These sculptures are then digitally modified to make them feel almost painting like, making the architectures turn from synchronization to juxtaposed comparison.
Intended to be installed as a two-channel piece.
